phew!

vetsch is sitting next to me and forgot about her "supplier relationship management" and concentrates on the voting for the "best looking football-schniitz". I can't stop her from clicking on the pictures and the smoke-signs of her notebook keyboard make me worry about the fire alarm in the library... my favoutite is Andrej Schewtschenko although he looks especially good on this picture.. but to feed your opinion about me as a superficial, bullshit talking and temporary nutter I post sexy Ljungberg - just to get the girls' spring feelings in motion - on this cold and rainy day...

a festival Underberg

a festival Underberg
Originally uploaded by martina melitta.

Uh, where shall I start? First of all, I survived my first festival and it was great. A bit unexpected, but great!!
On Friday morning, I got a text from Lucy asking me if I'd like to go to the Hi-Fi south festival in Winchester and I said yes. Friday evening, we went to buy a tent and food for the weekend. Saturday we took the tube, the train and a bus to arrive at the campsite and I was glad that we managed to built the tent before the rain started. Regarding the weather, we had it all. Thin english rain, thick clouds and wind, sunshine, heavy showers and even hail; With the result that I am now sunburnt but caught a tiny cold.
I didn't really know what kind of music I should expect and to be honest it did come as a surprise when I saw the festival area for the first time and realised that the dj's weren't going to play "hey jude" by the Beatles. (But I heared "nice weather for ducks" by Lemon Jelly) And what else did we see: A tired Kharma 45, and a cool hyperactive Go Team. The Super Fury Animals (bäh) in shiny blue overalls (doulbe bäh), a great, great Mylo, the end of the Scratching Perverts but the whole of the Stanton Warrors. And I wanted to dance to James Zabiela forever. Forever!
On Sunday, we started the afternoon relaxed with the Envelopes and Wiservice and soon warmed up with Crazy P and by the time we saw Jon Carter we were already raveing along. Later we saw catchy-tune Kosheen and funny Lemon Jelly, yeay. Paul Oakenfold, the Audio bullys and and and ... It was really great and I am so glad that Lucy won that tickets and that she asked me to come with her and that I got the Saturday off from work. That's a triple yeay from me to you. I'm happy!

and even more pics.

In the beginning I didn't really know what to do in those big tents with all the strange people dancing to the kind of music I usually avoid . But after I've been dancing to Mylo along with hundreds of other people the shame was gone and on Sunday, Lucy and I finished the party in the Godskitchen arena, where I got whipped with hard core techno and you can bet I was loving it.

almost 9 hours...

... in Kreuzberg-cellar. the first 2 hours were overshadowed by a slight nervousness if anybody would come. "la familia" arrived at 12 and then everything gets a bit blurred. There was this huge surprise - a Cafe Amigo performance and then.... dancing dancing dancing. I remember a whiskey bottle, a sleeping Peter, a vienna-metblogger, a german-teacher-lookalike and that we wondered that 90% of the guests knew the lyrics of "heit bin i wieder fett wie a radierer" by heart and wasn't shy of showning it lowdly. obviously there is a tiny little Wolfi Ambros or Reini Fendrich in each of us!

Christmas 2002, Dominik as a "point of sale"- element.

The main project was to develop a christmas wrapping for some product and I wanted to put a panel up as well, so I asked Dominik if he could hold my little thingy-box. (The little thingy-box is not on this picture, I cut it out, it looked strange) And as always, sexy sells or like Mone would say "geilo!" Yep and my warm winter coat added the bit of winter feeling. And with Dominik's stark naked chest, wrapped up in a fury coat, this job was done in a few moments.

Well, thanks Dominik, you sure are a great dressman (and by the way I believe you'd be a pretty good actor too. But we'll never know.)

my trapezius is tense..

Hi I'm back.. Phew. good to see people under the age of 65 again! But 'I had my Spa experience!
Sunday: me and simo's mum wanted to leave at 9. Quite ambitious for my family. We left at 11:15, still nervous and awaiting the (geographical) center of Austria. Bad Aussee. When I arrived the highway I recognized the power of my mum's car for the first time. Pfoa! My speed genes found themselves in a turbo-evolution and destroyed, together with the little endorphines, my responsibility hereditary-material. Speed! I overtook every single german-sunday-hat driver and got a quite diabolic look while singing along to "heit bin i wieder fett wia a radierer"! After 1,5 hours we arrived and till then we had also listened to "I am from Austria" for 4 times. In B.A. - rain! Rain and mountains with a snow topping. Great! "Big city life Simone" plopped out of the car in her Sommerpanier: "Yeah, where's THE Spaaaa..??" One hour and a Wiaschtl later I found myself in my white dressing gown at the Laconium. In there me, my mum and a Nürnberger... a FKK loving ("Fkk is schon sehr klasse") very talkative man. Me, being raised in a commune, couldn't irritate his flexi-way of sitting with wide spread legs.. noooo.. Later tanning booth and the herbal steam bath.. When I wanted to go out a young (!) guy sat outside, freaky naked, like all of us. BUT I had a print on my ass because of sitting on a tile-bench for 20 mins. I call it my mosaic-ass.. After that all stoppages where gone. And the masseuse's little son was all happy when I walked by opening my gown from time to time..

not as bitter as chicory

I am back at seat 54 of the library after a weekend that didn't work out as planned. My thesis-drill-instructor got fired and a party-drill-instructor was hired, who then drilled me AND my former thesis-drill-instructor to peak performance! So I startet at life ball - Rathausplatz with Vetsch hanging on the fence gaping at crazy people. Soon bored we first crashed Teresa's princess-balcony and then a Albertina-Augustiner-snob-cellar-party-dingsbums where I heard a guy say the worst pick-up line ever: >>das feuer ischt aus deine augen entwischen. isch gebe dir deine leidenschaft zurüüük<<. This was bad in spite of his french accent; I wonder how this would work in a charming Upper Austrian dialect. I ended in Café Bendl, discussing the advantages of Kraut with Mauki, now Krauti and dismissed Sunday from the list of week days.

Springtime 2002, Mone needed a few portraits to put into her CV and stuff:

I booked the photo studio for an afternoon and Mone came around to have a few pictures taken. We ended up spending hours in the studio because it took me a very long time to get the setting right and because it took Mone a long time to feel comfortable in front of the camera. I remember how in the first pictures she looked as if I caught her sitting on the loo, very scared and obviously not comfortabel.
From all the pictures I like that one best, because It shows one of Mone's oh so typical habits - that is pinching her face. Everytime when she ended up in an awkwardly situation she started to pinch her eyebrow and her hand covered up half of her face. Then she would sit down and observe the situation.
We shared a room in halls for one year and I honestly can't remember how we did that because we never seemed to have arguments. No big arguments at least. Well, I guess I only remember the good times that we had on the first floor in the Erasmus student Hall. (With the first floor, being the worst of all.) And if I ever had to share rooms again, I'd only share with you that's for sure.

Lazy Sunday

Today my bed is ferromagnetic and I feel like a little iron pellet. So I spent almost the entire day in bed (exept for when I made borritos for lunch). In the morning I watched Nausicaa, the heroine without undies. And in the afternoon I completed the volumes of Kill Bill. I didn't know the end before, therefore I was very surprised by the fact that the whole Tarantino killing-epos turned out to be a just a family drama. (A workaholic career Mom is fighting for the right to see her child on a regular basis ...)
BUT tonight ...

I think Thomas Brezina, my reason for sleepless nights as a kid (äähhm..because of his children's books, not because of his handsomeness), is the ONLY person on earth whom a moustache really suits. I mean, he looks naked without it, doesn't he?

Dont's summer 06

Do not sit like this in the tram with a flokati in your arm pit!
today, I was the bear in No.5, experiencing the unexpected... :(

WG Impressions #8

this evening I witnessed a geographical bet between my two wg-chicas which was thrilling indeed. The subject: Where exactly is Bad Aussee?
statement Vetsch: in Upper Austria
statement Simo: in Styria
the wager: half of Simo's "Schlierbacher Käse"
and here: the solution
(now Vetsch is in her room crying about her loss. to understand that one has to now that when she was sitting in the shopping cart as a child, she begged her mum for the stinky cheese instead of sweets)

Today I'd like to tell you about the 327 pictures I took to get this "ad" right in 2001:

I asked Sara if she had the time to come over and I would take a few pictures of her, for a project of mine. I told her that it would take about half an hour but obviously I didn't take my photography skills into account.
The brief asked for a quick shot on tobacco advertising for Christmas. Great! So the next weekend, I grabed my Mum's Advent wreath (because of Christmas) and combined it with Sara, because sex sells. Unfortunately I'm a bad photographer and in general, there is a reason why I prefer type to pictures. And this meant that Sara had to go through almost a pack of lit cigarettes before I managed to take a picture that wasn't either blurred or showing a laughing Sara, because she had to clench quite a bit to stay in that pose.
Today I'd say that the picture is too cheesy to be true, but I still think that Sara looks damn good in that photo.

Read from my eyes

Yesterday I had my hand-in. My FINAL hand-in. This means that I've finished my course, it means that I'm soo happy, it means that I feel very liberated and it also means that I'm ill now, read it from my eyes. If the eyes are the mirrow of the soul, then the thing around the eyeballs is the mirrow of the body: I do feel slightly wrinkly, very small and a bit off-white. Everything is shiny, though maybe not in a good way ...

Anyway, I've finished college and am I ready to compete with the big, bad world? YES! I remember when I finished school I didn't have such a great time, because I didn't know if they would accept me at the graphic school in Vienna and I didn't know what to do otherwise, so I was scared. And at the time I finished in Vienna, I already knew that I got a place at Lcc, so I was scared, again! But now, I don't have a clue what I'm going to do with my life and am I scared? NO!

So this was my last day in college:
I got up in the morning and checked my e-mails, I got a few very nice ones, so I started the day in a good mood. After a cup of tea I started to clean the flat, because I knew that Maija would come home that day and I know that she likes my clothes, so I made sure I put everything back in my cupboard ;)
When I came into College Emma, Jo, Shawn and Felix were already there and after Shawn gave up writing his "yeah whatevva" we went to the student bar and it was 10 to 4 when I took the picture of Trond and Felix just after they had their first sip of beer. This was the start of a very pleasant, relaxing evening and I enjoyed it soo much to see everyone again. Later we went to a pub down the road and I was ready to continue the socialising and drinking, but unfortunately my kidney decided to go home and and I refused to let it go by itself, we are still in London after all. But hey, you only celebrate your final hand in once in your life, so why not end the evening early and with terrible cramps. But since we started very early anyway, I had a few couple of hours of fun as well and my kidneys saved me probably from a huge hangover.

Also Pepé called today and invited us to have a nice dinner with him and his friends tonight, but we'll see if the apnoe-diving course allows any after-water action.. we keep you updated!

your shoulder pads, legwarmers and vokuhilas and break the
night down with 'em!

yes, I don't play the guitar.

I didn't have much luck with public transport yesterday. It took me ages to go from Waterloo to Archway, because several tubes weren't working. And I was late anyway, because I finished my last project yesterday, as well. (yeay!)
But I finally arrived at May's and we had a guitar session. May aka, the singing halbert, showed me her refined guitar skills (Zombie by the cranberries: "So-hom-be ...") And I figuered that I'm better in playing bass on the guitar then - guitar on the guitar. In the end we found our way (through pittoresque streets) and went to Jaimes and Derreks house warming. It was a cool party (as always) but I had to leave early, because I'm meeting my beloved brother in an hour so I've got to rush. And later I'll print a bit more stuff out for tomorrow.

(And finally I learned how to put more than one picture in a post)

early sketch

Kudos to ... is my chance to thank all the people who almost sacrificed their soul to help me finishing my college projects, in the last 6 years.
-------------------------------
Today I'd like to start with a simple sketch I did 4 years ago, in spring 2002:

Sevi sacrificed a pair of headphones to make this sketch (and the following painting) possible.
We did a project for a local radio station in Vienna and everybody got a square canvas and the oportunity to express his thoughts about the station in a picture. I chose to depict a pair of headphones that would look like two parrots looking at each other(wtf), because, isn't that the first thing that pops into your head when you hear the word radio station? So this is one of the first sketches I did and later on the finished piece, there would be these two big parrot heads looking rather dumb at each other, coloured in yellow and blue.
Anyway, when I told Sevi that I needed a pair of headphones for my project, he didn't hesitate a bit to help me out with a pair of his'. Was ich übrigens furchtbar nett von dir gefunden hab.

And next time: Sara selling cigarettes.

"echt cool"

Germany ::Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit:: WIR SIND FUSSBALL!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
::HOT::OWO Owomoyela
::TOP:: BALLA Ballack

Well, what a beautiful team to begin with... pfff!
  • Three times world champion, three times european champion. Current trainer Jürgen Klinsmann, following Rudi Völler who resigned after the early end at the EM 2004.
  • Lothar Matthäus is the top kicker ever in the "top ranking" of the german national team. 150 games, 23 goals, 45 years old, 3 kids, a former interior designer, former Rapid Wien trainer. But he is history. Although the lohdaaa would probably score TOP and HOT...
  • rated as "best team"in Group A - never played against either Costa Rica or Ecuador, always won against Poland.
  • The team is worth € 189.700.000... phew...
  • No Kahn but Lehmann which leads Kahn to be in a Burger King and beer Tv-ad..

Looking at todays "eleven" I needed to take all of them under a closer look and I found Germany's "HOT" with number 25.. not a very high posibility to see him playing.. OWO, or Patrick Owomoyela - the magical power.

And as Germanies Top I would assume number 13.... due to his market value of € 35.000.000,- and his goals.. but here, our male guests get their chance to correct me!

WM 2006 - Zu Gast bei Freunden

Now we hop on, on the fast rolling train and proudly present:

2006 FIFA WORLD CUP GERMANY
:: TOP OR HOT ::
Ok my plan is, and I hope it is in my collegues intent, to present the Groups. AND select from each Team "the hot guy" and "the top guy". As we all know, watching football with a group of boys may end in an endless discussion about the basic reason of watching football. Of course I, as a girl, wanna see an exciting game - BUT there can be an additional bonus material...
Oki doki....Let the games begin!
GROUP A
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Germany - Costa Rica - Poland - Ecuador
and here, the WM anthem from Gröni to practice!

if I could..

...I would turn back the time to 7.30 this morning. I would then take my camera with me and leave the flat as usual. I would be outside for 1 minute und then I would take the best snapshot ever. buuuut... technology refuses to make this possible, so I have to reproduce what I saw this morning. I have been laughing for hours. Think there should be more of them cruisin' around in Vienna. could make people cheer up a bit. crime rate would fall... anyways..here comes the combination:

smells like nougat...

unbelieveable! I walked out of our house at 8:20 p.m. to get some ice cream and visit a friend of mine for a chat. And when I crossed Josefstädterstraße an amazing smell hit my olifactory nerve.. chocolate!

You Stahlstadtkinder may know the smell of sulphur (Schwefel) a.k.a rotten eggs from the chemical industrie in Linz but here in Vienna the air smells like chocolate. Hot, melted chocolate... and it's brilliant! and please blame it on manner!

Oh and the ball is one of my latest purchases. What am I doing with it? I sit on it, put my legs in the air and try to balance. It soothes my inner child and prevents me from freaking out. (Ironic, isn't it?)

my mobile is better off than me

MQ summer opening

Out beloved MQ opened the summer season 2006 on Thursday and of course we HAD to be there. José Ritmo tried to wake up the viennese crowd but.. hey MQ people.. where were the speakers? that tiny thingies? can't be.. anyway. We planned a blogger meeting with michael from the metbloggers, but (t) [sorry, insider..] he couldn't make it to the multi-gang meeting we had yesterday. The family - la familia - celebrated with Andrés, our beloved spanish friend, with eva, with markuess, with chulia and her boys, later with some khevenhueller guys and it worked out!! Ok, I need to admit that the helium baloons united us, together with stories about fritzi being sigi saubermacher. In the night a dance performance made us agree with janne when he stated his affectation for classical art in such moments. "G" has a new nickname (plazenta-boy) and again it was a wonderful evening!

announcment

I decided that after I handed in all my project for college I want to start a little "in memoriam" segment on the blog. More specificly it will be a "in memoriam my student time and everybody who helped me get through with it"
During the past 5 years I asked my friends to pose for a variety of projects. So just in case anybody doesn't want to be published on the blog, tell me now and your veto will be taken into consideration. Otherwise you can wait in pleasant anticipation for Sara the alluring cigarettes girl, Fritzi the pilot, Dominik the dressman, Scheibi and Matzi on the run and others ...

city pirates!

Today after a boring spanish grammar class, Simone and me were desperately searching for a parking lot in Ottakring. I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown cause I had to pee and we were both very impatient. But then.... we found the perfect one! even without "parallel einparking" behind a car of a tarifa-fan with a tarifa-pirata-sticker! Hello soulmates! And now I can't get the picture of 5 tanned surfer guys jumping into their car and driving to the beach to meet me there having a BBQ-party and Jack Johnson is playing the guitar and sings Banana pancakes for me...ääähm...out of my head. Weird how a simple sticker can light up my day.
