yppenplatz for president

I had a very relaxing afternoon with matthias, my favourite piefke at yppenplatz. the new cafe-ando revitalised me with coffeine and a spanish saying at the floor made me enjoy the day even more:

LA CALLE ES MI CASA SIN MARIDO
MI EMPRESA SIN PATRON
MI SALON DE COLORES...
Then lunch at Kent and a special WM-present.... what a day!!! and it's only 16.14h!

don't hassel the hoff!

sorry guys from wien brennt! but I had to steal the links and I think there are some people who will appreciate the amazing videos... jesus!
an old one, but always worth a dance...

private view

I had my private view yesterday and the only picture I took was when we were on our way back home. ts ts ts!
But for everybody who couldn't come yesterday - and it really was everybody who couldn't come (but for various reasons and to a great part through my own fault, because I simply forgot to invite them - how embarrassing is this!) So, again; For everybody, a synopsis of what happened: I got up at 6.30 in the morning ... went back to bed and got up again at 7.00 in the morning, because the "breakfast with the industry" started at 8.30. I got a name tag, had a coffe and a mini-croissant and after the caffeine kicked in, I went into the room to explain my project to Elise. She came to the breakfast, yeay!
In the afternoon I went for an unsuccessful shoe-shopping trip, took a nap and got ready for the private view. The advantage of not having a bunch of guests to entertain was that I could walk around freely without a granny under my armpit. The disadvantage was that I was scrounging other people's friends. So I found myself explaining my and other's projects to Maija's Mum, going for dinner with Michaela and her friends and later going to the Typo party with May (who's theoretically Maija's friend) But who cares; It was a great evening, not very relaxing though, but it was nice to see all the fellow students again, probably for the last time - Unless we all meet in the bar tomorrow, because tomorrow the marks will be up.

Thursday, 29th

total media appearance

the amigos hatten ihren ersten (?) TV Auftritt!! Am Dienstag in Metro. Puls TV, hosted by verbrauchte susi.

on my mind in the morning

Sometimes one becomes aware of things later than they happen. but then they hit you right where it hurts. Bringing the thesis to the bookbinder was no big deal, but when I liberally filled out a questionaire at the donauinselfest and had to tick >university degree<>without engagement<, things became clearer as >kloßbrühe<.
and that I see my Mrs. Boss for the last time tomorrow, that's strange, but not too bad. above all because she dared to put the picture of me and the fruit-basket online. I spare the link. And in fact I lost the plot right now. Actually I just wanted to blog 1000 more pics: more about the island, the beach bar, the MQ, the askew clothes horse and the night outside on a hawaii-balcony with a trumpet and chinese food.

KickOut Party

The Flat-Mate-Mania already started and after seeing unknown people looking around in my room this morning I know that it is time for me to pack my suitcase and close the door behind me... And of course I also remind Andi that she needs to leave and welcome Andi männlich in her room. But, hey... you know us and also a sad thing can be a reason for us to party! That's why we proudly invite you to a big-bang KickOut Party next Saturday, 1st of July. First at our flat and if the Police kicks us out we make a caravan to Seen at Gürtel, where private DJs Luis and Alf are DJing and fulfill nearly all your musical wishes!
So please come and make the last party for Andi and me worth some memories!

so lass uns diskotheken...

... die ganze Nacht!

Andi just told me that Luis is happy about café amigo being listed at standard.at..
And it is true: I found it! The rising stars... na halligalli!

In the park, by the river ...

I might as well add a few lines. Yesterday I've been to the park with Agatha, explaining to her the joy and pain of dorfmoped'zn. We've been to Hyde Park, where I haven't been for a while and I almost forgot how nice it is. Almost! Where's Mirabelle? And later I met up with Michaela for a late night walk by the riverside.
Yesterday was also the day of news and decisions and I had to make a very sad one. But I believe it will be for the best.

actually, this is quite sick, because it is 3 something and I should be sleeping to be ready for the WG-room casting tomorrow. We decided, that I should just stay in bed when the people are looking at my beloved cave.. BUT I am actually drinking liters of water because of being afraid of my hangover tomorrow. So I don't want to fall asleep and keep on drinking..
Today, the danube island offered us a day in the sun.
- With our haus-band Café Amigo on the FM4 stage.
- being backstage due to the kindness of Mister Amigo Poser Alf and playing with food and Luis
- the amigos and Andi, ready to rock..
- the dust, which made me sneeze mud after the final act Fettes Brot
- la vedge and Grewy
- se görls
- the most fette concert of Fettes Brot. I loved it although Kuri said it is music for 8 year olds.. hm.. Regarding my theorie that I underlive a backward evolution concerning age, this is not a problem for me.
- On our way home, Anita figured out where she lives.. and she knew exactly which big road to follow...
- and what would an evening out be, without meeting someone on the way home. Giorgio was the star of Bethlehem today which guided Andi and me to Chelsea where we met the boys celebrating val's birthday.. phew.. Happy Birthday again and you really knew how to break down the night!!
Ok, now football fans are singing outside in the street: "Berlin, Berlin wir fahren nach Berlin - shaaaalalalalalaaa lala...." Time for me to go to bed, listining to the choirs.. night, night.

Berlin Woman part 2

some more...
#1: Berlin's first beach bar.. Sex on the beach.. next to Monbijou Park.
#2: Kulturbrauerei.. Concerts, WM sreening and bars.. Prenzlauerberg area.
#3: Oderberger Stadtbad - Old indoor pool transformed into a bar for WM screening. I loved it! Even without people, because they all just left after the game.
#4: picnic in front of Sony Center, Potsdamer Platz.
#5: Me with my merchandise WM Käppi.. Just before I went to the bar to watch the game GER:ECU..
#6: At Bar Vereinszimmer in Kreuzbergstrasse. Next to Viktoriapark..
#7: The Oderbergerstadtbad during day time.. of course, like every singel wall in Berlin - sprayed!
#8: view at night from a bar - Potsdamer Platz.
#9: Tuesday, 20.06. 1 minute after the germany game started... anyone there?

and more...

Berlin Woman

some touri places to be:
#1: Alexanderplatz, Fernsehturm - of course one needs to see one of the former symbols of East Germany, built 1969. Now it looks like a football.. a pink one..
#2: The Fanmeile. Actually this place spoils the Brandenburger Tor (#3), but 60m² screens along the Straße des 17.Juli which offer a party for 700.000 people on 77.000m² are also an impressive thing to see! phew.. just made it there in the afternoon and watched the german fans on Tuesday queing up for the fussi game vs. Ecuador.
#4: The Holocaust memorial right next to Brandenburger Tor.
#5,6: Check Point Charly. One of the most famous checkpoints along the berlin wall which seemed to me like a ancient story which it isn't.
#7: Some leftovers from the Berlin Wall in Bernauerstraße, just around the corner from the flat where we were staying in.
#8: Jewish Museum in Lindenstraße. Wow. That is A museum. The new part was designed by Daniel Libeskind who also won the tender for the Ground Zero project in NY. Very interactive and touching.
#9: Palast der Republik. In East Germany as a symbol for representation it got the name Erichs Lampenladen due to the stunning and glowing interior. Now Berlin decided to rebuild the old castle... hm.. well, the Palast der Republik was also contaminated with asbestos.. but is it a good idea to get rid of all the historical things.. I was also wondering that one doesn't notice the Wall in the city. If there wouldn't be the traffic light men one would not notice the former part of Berlin. On the other side, why would one want to know in which side he is in after the wall was torn down.. schwierig..

Bubble Shows

story about later. I gotta run. It's step-2-time! yiiieeehaaaa!

exhibition space

Illustration and Interactive Private view yesterday. I enjoyed it soo much. It's great to see the work from friends up on a wall in an exhibition, I'm so happy for them!!! It looked very good. But what I enjoyed most, was to see everybody again. But after next week it will be all over. No uni anymore. Just think of all the people I'll probably never see again.

So. Yesterday. Michaela picked me up and after Trond came, we went to the exhibition, which was just around the corner. The exhibition was in an old empty building. And the bar was at the top floor ;) So we went straight up to get a beer and then made our way downwards and looked at all the work. It is almost clichéd how we - the info crowd - got drawn towards posters of clean lines and perfect circles.
After the second fire alarm, they closed the exhibition and while everybody went down to the pub, Michaela and I sneaked into the flat, where Maija had a girl's party/dinner. After a short hello and an even shorter small talk, we went into the kitchen and feasted on the left overs; Couscous with houmous and a tripple chocolate cake that would have easily been a quadruple one if that word didn't sound so shit.

Later we joined the rest of the illustration group and after they kicked us out of the pub, we went to Cubana. Standing outside felt like being on a holiday and I would have enjoyed it for much longer, if my kidneys hadn't asked for a lift home. Next time I'll bring my kidney warmer, how sexy would that be.

"Entschuldigung, ficken?"

Mone is in screaming her lungs out, at the football in Berlin and I am sort of full-time organising the exhibition now, so there's only little time for blogging at the moment. But what about a weblink:
The following is a test that will tell you if you're manic, or not. (I scored a "moderate to severe mania. Which is no doubt better than the 2:2 England vs. Sweden, yesterday.)

Degree show

At the moment, I am busy organising my degree show which will start on Wednesday the 28th. In my pathway, Information design there are around 40 students, but by the time we found a committee to set up the show, only four people volunteered to do the job. And for months Jess, Fabian, Trond and me would meet up and have endless discussions about the degree show and how all our work could be laid out. Displaying the work on a dead pig or embedding everything in white shiny surfaces are just two of the concepts we put in our black box of ideas. We discussed many variations and considered a variety of media. I don't know how often we questioned our ideas, the purpose of a degree show and why we are doing all this; But Trond hit the mark when he wrote that "We have been appointed as a benevolent oligarchy to arrange all this by the lethargic masses." and we continued.

So what did we decide on, in the end? What final decision did we, "the commitee", make? ... We decided to film all the students work, set up projectors in the studio and only show the work digitally. Wham!
Now, I can understand that this sounds like a 42 to many students, but unlike in the hitchhiker's guide, people could have asked us how we came to this conclusion. We made a conscious decision to not show any work and we are sticking to it. What is happening now is that people started to complain. They don't agree, they weren't asked, they want the studio fee back, they had to come in and film their work! But the base of argumentation is very difficult, because they know that we can always argue that they didn't care in the beginning and that it's their own fault. And we know that they will criticise the exhibition and discuss the many ways in which the show could have been so much better. In the end both sides are true: Noone else wanted to do all the work and of course it could be so much better!

I am wondering if there is a Mother Teresa-ish way to solve this situation. Ideally both sides aim for the same result, which is to show off with their work in the degree show. Well, there is still one week to go and many hands are required to help finishing preparation for the show and although the concept of the exhibition won't change, there are still plenty of opportunities to work and make the exhibition a successful event.

So much for an ideal world. At the end of the day everybody has to justify his actions to himself. And I think I've done a very flattering job ;)

bathing and burned

I will be gone for 4 days now.. Germany is just waiting for me to arrive!

Today I had a wonderful day outside at the Döblinger Bad with the verenas, ex-BWZ guys and Mr. Röhr who invited us to his planket, but we couldn't find him on our "sightseeing-ice cream tour"... Verena and me imagined ourselves sitting in the Bad-Imbiss 30 years ahead from now eating our "Paarl Frankfurter" and listening to Opus' Life is Life and I think we found that scenery quite amusing... After the rain left, the sun turned out to be very strong and all we took home with us was a sunburn..brilliant! Hope it will be gone tomorrow and turns from red to bronze and I will be mistakes for an Ecuador fan in Berlin on Tuesday! Hasta pronto, amigos!

aprés KFK Prüfung

My final exam is done.. mission accomplished! But there is no need to send naked policemen singing me a telegram.. there is still my thesis :'(
But I had a nice but/and relaxed evening yesterday at MQ with the girls and Jan. Due to my short night yesterday I was all fit today and made an adventure trip to a launderette in the 16th district to get my clothes clean for Berlin. Quite nice.. I really like it and helped two women out who didn't know how to press the right buttons, and who mistook the dryer with the laundry machine.. hm..
World Cup is still forcing all of us to watch TV and so I found myself at 6 sipping my first beer, doing a lot of phonecalls and watching the Czech Republic playing a lousy game.. At 8 I met up with Val and we found Fritzi alone at Flex, representing the Forza Azzuri in his own special way.. Basically in flicking around his pocket WM calender, trying to learn all the games by heart. Soon Val ripped his black shirt off his body and unveiled an original Italy top.. weeehaa! So nothing could stop us watching a good game. No unexpected guy you once knew, no red cards and no flat screen in the new toilets. 1:1. hm.. So not enough reason for the guys to party.. Tomorrow me and the verenas are planning a trip to the island to bath in the danube.. good idea??

pasta for pete

According to "Krone Zeitung" (The equivalent to the Sun) Pete Doherty is ...
But read for yourself.

Another headline: Türkish TV banned "Winnie the Pooh" because of Piglet the little pig. Moslems see pigs as dirty animals and Piglets appearence on screen was too much for the officials.

filming

Yesterday I spent 8 hours in the film studio. 8 hours in a very cold room without a window. But It was for a good deed - The degree show is coming closer. And it was very interesting to see how even a simple set up like this, takes a lot of time and consideration. I'm glad graphic design is still more about still images than moving ones.

survive the masses

after my final exam at university tomorrow I am going to Berlin on Monday... BUT how am I going to survive 500 000 fans at the WM-Meile? And a won match of Germany vs. Ecuador on Monday evening?? And I definitely need an Austria-Team-Shirt to spread a little bit of patriotic love over the streets of berlin! So wish me luck for tomorrow 1400 and if you feel like celebrating my passed or failed exam - you find me somewhere sitting in the sun sipping my beer... MQ I come, Strandbar I come!

watching DVD

Haven't been watching Virgin Suicides for a while. I didn't remember how great this movie was. I loved the strictness of the scenes and the all the living rooms in flower-pattern and the conversations via telephone.
Guess what name I have written on my knickers?

picnic

picnic
Originally uploaded by martina melitta.
Today I bought my own dowry, I think. Bright red picnic equipment and with the tent I bought for Winchester festival I am ready to go camping anytime.
Lucy, Irene and May came over and Lucy and me had to show off with our pictures from Istanbul. May told about her childhood in Thailand and how she was playing in the rice fields and digging for crabs in the mud. Later we ended up talking about religion for a couple of hours while listening to Sezen Aksu. We came to the conclusion that it's a strange world out there!

A great week in Istanbul

I am awake again and while I am sitting in my room in London I can't stop thinking about all the wonderful things that happenend during the last week. I've been to Istanbul, where Lucy and I went for the 4th student Triennial. Students from all over the world came to exhibit work and exchange ideas.
We were lucky to being able to stay at Bugur's flat, she invited us to stay with her and her friends, which was a great opportunity to see and experience how students in Istanbul live.
In Istanbul many religions and cultures come together and it was amazing to see how they meet each other rather than clash together. To me, religion seemed to be much more evident in everyday life. On the last day for example, we've been to a dinner, organized by the triennial and they stopped the music for the prayer and continued it afterwards. It is those little things that shows you how respectful they must treat each other and it shows how deep-rooted religion is in Turkey.

Another thing that fascinated me even more was the social interaction. The city is full with little blue busses, you see them in the street, give them a sign, get on and pay one lira. If people get on the bus and find a seat at the back, they won't bother to get up again to pay the driver, instead they pass the coin on to the person in front of them and the money travels to the front, passing several hands before the driver takes it and, if necessary, passes the change back. I doubt this would work in England, it is much too spontanious and by far too personal.
In London you read a book in the tube, wear sunglasses in the street and rather face the wall than having to stare at a stranger. We do this in order to maintain that little bit of personal space that one needs to feel comfortable in a big city.
In Istanbul, you look at people you talk to them and smile. And you do this in order to maintain your bit of space as well but the tactic is to befriend the people that surround you, so that being close to them is more comfortable.

I really enjoyed Istanbul and I hope I will be able to go there again for a while, because there is so much left to see and do and I need much more than a week to grasp everything there is.
Finger's crossed.

Istanbul

This is a preview for the Istanbul blog entry that will follow tomorrow.
It was the first time I heard the prayer so loud and clear. The film
is taken in Toptasi prison on the Asian side of Istanbul, where I saw
an exhibition.

WM Beamer Bier

Everything I crave these days is so near but yet out of reach. WM – Beamer – Beer. Although I can’t even swallow a mouthful of beer because I definitely know that I don’t like it, I have a certain beer appetite when it comes to football. I should restart a little beer tasting. There MUST be a brand that suits me. Ok, I already lost the “red line”, so I can also tell you that I went out yesterday to the sublime friends party at clubU/OttoWagnerPavillon although I should have stayed in the current WG-learning mode presented by Simo right here – how commendable! Now I am tired, I have to learn thousands of crazy formulas which become a bit blurry and start to move on the sheet when you look at them long enough and all I wanna be is a WM football player.
Anyway, I just wanted to show you that “something like a bar or party cellar” opened right across from our house. This has been due for the longest time….uuuuh uuh uuh uuuuh…for the longest time.

punkti punkti strichi strichi

life in levels

Do you also see your life in a pattern?

I have a lot of pattern.. For example I see the week like a calender, but I have a different calender compared to my school time and it is also different when I have a lot to do compared to lazy weeks. saturdays and sundays are thinner columns and sunday evening is lower as monday, which appears to be on a hill.
And the the year is also a pattern.. it is like a bigger calender and starts from july till december, then I need to turn the page so I can see january to june.
My bank account is like a diagram and although I currently don't have it under control the graph goes up and down in my thoughts. My drinking level is like the "energy-points" of a computer game character. I don't mean alcohol (do I?), just the "drink gallons of water hype". So when I don't drink I see this red light in my control panel. Same with coffee.. When I drink 'em I see the light turning green. I also have phases.. which is probably the superordinate category of pattern.. hm..

06.06.06

Welcome to slayer day 06.06.06

666 the number of the beast. Beautiful! so for me and all my collegues of the "black is the new grey- society" today is a special day. We celebrate the National Day of Slayer. Instead of going to the library I am having a "slay-out" (muhahaha) and will stay home listening to "Reign in blood" with my subwoofer blaster. having a coffee and oreo cookies. Probably someone on the street starts with shouting out "slaaayer" and I will join, screaming out of my window. Or "helga" instead of "Slayer". Sometimes I can't stop wondering....

unlimited music pleasure

linzfest made us leave vienna and attack the sky loft at AECenter... we came quite early but the waiting was all worth the brilliant music -Dj -Action we could then nod our head and kick our booties to. DJ Beware, DJ Functionist & DJ Dan had control over the turntables which made me rethink my career as DJ Lordhelmchen which started together with andi at Anita's party and ended there 20 minutes later.. pff.. The night was kicked off after some of the girls and the most boring boys you've ever seen left the building and the verenas and me decided to dare a dance.. our woohoo - tracks: M.I.A.- galang, N.E.R.D., white stripes - my doorbell, and the kickass final: nostalgia 77/alice russel version of seven nations army with a spaced away giorgio floating on the dancefloor in his waiter t-shirt.. In the end I could not resist to use the blogosphere as a cheap "chat-up-line" for DJ Beware, who's friend DJ Kamikaze is part of my blogroll. und so schließt sich der kreis.. So, thank you for the music meister-DJs and apart from unlimited on FM4 I really hope to dance to another live set soon.. and dancing and music and dancing and music..... woohooo!

Lucy's birthday

Yep, it was Lucy's birthday and I didn't take a single picture of her. Shame on me. But all my clothes need the washing machine, so I went out in shorts and tights and noone took a picture of my very daring outfit. Shame on them.
Maija proofed to be daring as well, she tried to fit the whole pringles tube into her mouth to get all the crisp crumbs that I shook up for her befor. But the whole evening was no doubt surprising, it started with Lucy's birthday cake that consisted of chocolate and strawberries and it continued when I found someone I've never met before sleeping and a bit tipsy on Maija's couch in the living room.

i AM sorry...

...to bother you with boring "suder"-stuff all the time and I know that you are a bit spoild reading funny stories here but I elect this week to the third badest week of my life and I have to share it with somebody, so why not with www? - nobody would be here anyway. everybody I know is breaking down the night right now, I slept about 10 hours since wednesday and prepared a shitty golf cup for arrogant business f***ers during the rest of the time. although I am tired most of the time I don't sleep well at night and this is probably quite good cause I am just about to start my preperations for my (hopefully) final thesis meeting with K.D. tomorrow at 8. thank god I just survived my 2-hour linz-vienna-continuousrain-almost sleeping-drive; and I just wonder if hubertus von hohenlohe has ever gone through a crisis...

Prime - a romantic comedy

For anyone who cares, I went to the cinema tonight. I had dinner first with Celine and then we went straight to the pictures. And we saw Prime. 1 hour and 45 minutes of relationship. I got to watch the ups and downs of somebody else's relationship. Great? Boring! Uma Thurman was good though, I really like how she's playing, but other than that ... Well, I never had a relationship, I don't have one at the moment and I'm not looking for one that's for sure. And watching other people falling in love, then moving together and then falling out does nothing to me, cos I can't identify with 'em anyway.

Pfings-tee'n

Ich nippe gerade an meinem Tee... TEE!

Lemon Jelly again

And someone with a bigger memory card than I recorded the whole song.
